The Labour Campaign for Human Rights is pleased to publish our second Brexit and Human Rights Briefing: Protecting Employment and Equality Rights. The proposals include a call for existing employment and equality protections to be maintained by primary legislation after exit day, and for the full transfer of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights into UK domestic law. The briefing also warns of the human rights implications of ‘The Great Repeal Bill’, proposing that the ‘Henry VIII’ powers be used only for technical revisions to legislation, and be subject to a robust process that eliminates the potential for misuse. Finally, the briefing calls on the government to provide further clarity on post-Brexit ECJ rulings, as well as proper guidance to the judiciary on transitional arrangements.
